Musical Thanksgivings
Submitted by Tim Hanken on November 21, 2007.Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so what is it that your thankful for in a musical sense? This is just the type of cheesy question that were all asked, might as well have a bank of answers to fall back on. For instance, I'm thankful for the following:
- That Paul McCartney and George Harrison rode the same bus when growing up in Liverpool.
- The new Radiohead album.
- Easy Street Records.
- That Thai Kitchen delivers to my apartment and never gets lost.
I know that last one isn't directly related to music, but it does allow me to stay home and listen to music instead of having to venture out on cold and rainy Seattle nights. Plus it's just so damn delicious.
What are you all thankful for?

I am thankful to be friends with so many incredible, inspiring music-makers here in Seattle and elsewhere. These days most of my favorite musicians are my friends (or many of my friends are my favorite musicians), which is a pretty cool setup.
Tonight I will be thankful that The Comet is walking distance from In The Bowl.

Ooh -- I love me some In The Bowl too. That's on my thankful list for sure.

I am thankful I scored tickets to MBV!!! and that no one hits me, even if I do say this 3 or 4 times everyday to everyone I meet.

I'm thankful that all the musicians in Seattle are so sweet and really interact with their fans. I don't know if that's true of every city. Bands like BOAT, SFE, the Catch, even Aqueduct! All such nice guys, all so talented, all totally approachable :]
Also, I'm thankful that my mom lets me listen to KEXP when I'm in the car :]

Oh yes, I remember the days of arguing with my parents over the dial... we should all be very thankful for KEXP.

I am thankful that we live in such a musically vibrant town with an awesome community of folks who support music and one another.
I have been asked to put together my favorite releases of 07 for the inevitable year end run downs and about 6 out of 10 are local releases (although I am still pondering)...
