The Klaxons' Myths of the Near Future walked away with the 2007 Mercury Prize. For those of you who don't remember, the likes of Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Bats for Lashes and Dizzee Rascal were nominated, yet somehow the remarkably blah Myths of the Near Future. The Brits just keep on baffling me, I guess.

Why oh why will the awards people not consult with us beforehand??!?

To put salt in the wound, the now reclusive Amy Winehouse not only appeared at the Mercury Award show, she performed an acoustic version of "Love is a Losing Game". Now, this is the Amy we love, not the bizarre trainwreck.

Holy cow, that's chilling. What a brilliant song pick, especially given her crazy personal sitch at the moment.
I'm going to post this as a blog entry so more peeps see it. AMAZING!

Amazing performance, but I'm still in the belief that Patrick Wolf should have:
a) been nominated
b) won

Yeah, wasn't he supposed to be retiring from touring? I just got an email announcing a Patrick Wolf tour. Let me go look it up and share the deets... but before I do, am I crazy? Wasn't the word around town that Patrick wasn't going to tour any more?

Yeah, he did say he wasn't going to tour, but the I think the whole thing was debunked as lil' Patrick just seeking attention, which certainly agrees with his current diva image.
