iTunes is now the #1 place where people buy music.
This is less surprising to me than the fact that previous to yesterday, the top retailer was Walmart. Not that this should be surprising, not even with Walmart's hip Band of Horses marketing campaign. As I loathe Walmart, this news makes me happy.
But yea, online sales have officially outpaced the compact disc. This reminds me of when the first cassette tape outsold its vinyl counterpart.
Anyone out in imaginary-land know which album did that, and what year it was...?

1983 was the first year overall cassette album sales were higher than vinyl album sales. What particular album actually put cassettes over the top, I have no idea. Frankly, I'm surprised it happened at all, considering the crap sound quality of audio cassettes.
And I believe 1992 was the first year CDs, in turn, outsold cassettes.

I have to say this makes me want to vomit. I hate itunes. No, I can't explain it exactly.

That's pretty much what I've been saying about the crap quality of MP3s for the past eight years.
