Vote in the NME USA music awards. Or not.
Submitted by imaginary dana on April 14, 2008.NME is sponsoring the first-ever NME Awards USA. I just tried going over to their website to read about the nominees, and when voting ends, but apparently you need to be a registered user to see the information. And that's completely lame. So I won't be voting.
If you don't have the same online editorial hangups as I do and would like to cast your ballot, here are some of the nominees. You can see the full listing over at LimeWire.

What do you think? I like how they only have American bands in the "best" area and categorize everyone else as international, instead of allowing Americans to pick a non-US band as the best. And by "like" I mean, don't like. And... Oasis?? C'mon now people. Try to stay with the current century please.
As one of the commentors on Limewire said, "I think they're doing this to demonstrate that Americans have poor taste."
The awards will be broadcast live on NME's MySpace page on April 23rd.

Try listening to XFM (London) for a day. Even taking into account that they are eight hours ahead and you'll be listening to night programming, which is usually more cutting edge, it is like going back in time at least two years. Also, keep in mind that XFM is their seriously alternative outlet. Scary. I must point out, however, that John Kennedy's specialty show Xposure is quite good. It's on from 2 PM to 5 PM PST.

I know Oasis seems like a reach, but they are are still hot sh*t overseas. Remember, they were "bigger and better than the Beatles", new Labour champions, working class Mancunian heroes and front-page tabloid news every week (now just every other week). NME had a recent "best British albums of all time" list and Oasis held the top 2 spots....so what I'm saying is, from their perspective, it's not a reach.

Um. NME just jumped the shark if it hadn't already years ago.

I think that list is shitty. My Chemical Romance? New band = Band of Horses? Heh?
And really... The Killers?
