This weekend I caught Goodness again. I know I just saw their official reunion show a few weeks back, but what can I say -- after an 8+ year hiatus, I needed another dose of Goodness. This time I brought my wee baby daughter, since the show was outside at the Mural Amphitheatre. And I wasn't the only one -- the audience was packed full of babies and wee kids. Kinda surreal. Never thought I'd ever nurse at a Goodness show, but like Romeo Void once said, never say never.
How about all of you. See any exciting shows this weekend? If so, tell us all about it in the comments below.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club in Denver! It doesn't get much less awesome than that. Well, maybe The Clash in London or something cuckoo like that.

Wilco in Bend, OR was simply amazing. The band played material from each of their albums in a two-hour set that was capped off with a heavenly rendition of Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" joined by Fleet Foxes on vocals.

I too was at Goodness! Gotta say that I left feeling a little flummoxed...I've had such a soft spot in my heart for that band all these years, but this show just didn't bring it for me. The energy wasn't as fiery as I'd hoped -- likely because it was a late summer evening rather than a nighttime club show. In any case though, it was fabu to hear Carrie's stellar vox again and see imaginary D's wee baby! Now, can we get a Hammerbox reunion on the books?
After the show, my guy and I headed to Queen Anne Easy Street. As we were flipping through the used discs, in walked Mike McCready, who it appears is in town for some benefit shows this week (including Wednesday @ the Tractor). That's my weekend musical highlight!

The Drones at the Tractor. They brought the noise rock, that's for sure. Opener Monday Mornings was less than exciting, but overall a good, and under-attended, night in Ballard.

There was a Hammerbox reunion not too long ago, Stella! It was at the EMP and I remember being there but not remembering if I was blown away or not.
On another note, I saw Mirah last night. She was lovely as always but just so-so as a performer.

I agree, Goodness didn't pack the same punch they did at the Showbox a few weeks back. Seeing them in daylight with all the kids around was way tamer/less fiery than the band in their rock club glory.
But at least now my baby girl has been to a Goodness show!

telekinesis killed it saturday @ neumos. first time seeing those guys live.
their catchy tunes, tight arrangements and infectious energy made for a live show that surpassed my expectations. larger, more luminescent stages are in their future. and drinks will be allowed on stage.

Saw the Maldives out in Stanwood, really great friendship on stage between them, perfect timing for a beautiful time outside with friends, beer and other things.

Pela's show at the Mural was fabulous!!!!
Any hype you've heard is all true -- these guys are so the real deal:

Traffic coming across the lake was bizarrely horrendous for 5:30/6:00 on a Friday, so i missed all but 2 of Carter Tanton's songs. But caught him the next day at Sonic Boom, and he was terrific. He didn't sing the Red Balloons song (he closed his Mural set w/that gorgeous tune), but he sang a surprisingly long set (~40 min) during his instore. Sweet guy & just a beautiful voice.

Pela was great - it was awesome to see the Mural rockin' the way it used to when I was in high school and it was some of the only all-ages action around. The crowd stood up! They rushed the stage! It was rock! Carter Tanton, though on the opposite energy level, was amazing as well - captivated the crowd and made a huge impression.
It was a weekend of singer-songwriters, too - Carter on Friday, then Neil Halstead (Mojave 3, Slowdive) at the Sunset. The place was silent - a rapt audience in Seattle! It was magic, sweet, and fun - he botched a couple of attempts at some older songs, but made it through with humor and humility. Levi Fuller opened, and he was lovely as well - I'm going to have to check out more of his stuff.
Revving up for non-Bumbershoot next week[end] - Slim Cessna's Auto Club @ the Tractor [an apocalypse], and Truly @ the King Cobra [a true rock reunion].
