IMAGI-BLOG

New favorite band (for a minute at least)!

A while ago I received a promo of the recent Bishop Allen record The Broken String, and after a cursery listen, I filed it away on a shelf and forgot about it.

I stumbled across it the other day an took it on a road trip. And boy am I glad I did! This record is freakin' AMAZING!

They have songs on their webpage and their MySpace too.

I dedicate the song "Click Click Click Click" to all the amazing Imaginary Photographers (with a special shout out to my homegirl Laura Musselman)!

Jessepants! Check out my review of this album from last summer. I wonder how your thoughts compare.
"Click Click Click Click" showed up in a commercial for something, I'm thinking digital photography-related. Anyone know? Some HP photo printer or something?
And by the way, duh, I totally know where Bishop Allen Drive is.

You know, now that I see it again, I do remember reading that back when. I think it even helped me forget about them on the shelf! I dunno if I listened with "new Ears" this time or what, but it hit me totally different. The road often makes me fall in love with music though!

Ash- re-reading your review after my new found love was a treat! Thanks for reminding me, but I think you should love them more. ; )

Of course it's a great record! And so much fun to first discover too.

Bishop Allen did open for TIG-beloved John Vanderslice the last time he was in town, yaknow.

"Click Click Click" is good... it was used in a Sony camera commercial. But I think "Rain" is clearly the highlight song of the album. Especially in Seattle. Because when you wake up and it's all wet and gross outside, you can cheer yourself up by humming the super-catchy melody and remembering,

"Oh let the rain fall down
wash this world away
oh let the skies be gray
'cause if it's ever gonna get any better
it's gotta get worse for a day"

I really like Bishop Allen. I went to the Vanderslice show mostly to see them, actually. An awful lot of great bands are coming out of NYC right now. Maybe John Richards is on to something
