Speaking of SXSW...
Submitted by Jflores on February 15, 2008.If you were planning on skating by with one of the much cheaper wristbands to this year's SXSW music festival, there is bad news.
This year the wristbands will be sold via an online lottery and only to residents of Austin. All credit card purchases will be cross checking the billing address to confirm that you are from Austin. Good news for locals who feel like they've been frozen out of their own festival. Bad news for cheap skates like me who will now have to spring for the more expensive badge.

They've done something like this every year, haven't they? Done reduced-rate wristbands for locals, and sold the expensive ones to everyone else? The link doesn't work, so I can't read teh story, and my memories of this aren't exactly crisp, but I seem to remember something about locals being able to get cut-rate wristbands if they wanted them.
