I was reading through the weekly Neumo's email (ok, I wasn't, but someone special pointed it out to me) and noticed this listing on July 14th at Neumo's:
Monday July 14th - Neumos Presents: SUPER SPECIAL SECRET GUESTS, The Listening Party. $17 ADV, 8pm Doors, 21+.
BUY TICKETS
It's the Monday immediately following SP20. Does anyone have any scoop or even just fun rumors?
Could the Afghan Whigs be having a reunion? Greg Dulli will be in town on the 12th and the band's next show isn't until the 24th. Are the stars aligned?

That's a beautiful, wonderful pipe dream. I can totally get behind that.
Sad newbie question: How can a venue promote a concert without telling their potential customers who is playing?

I'll try to answer your question just before I look for some clues that might point us in the right direction for who this might be.
This isn't too uncommon, Cory, but I bet it's a band that can't contractually announce they are playing, ie, they have a show booked already (likely as part of a festival but not definitely). With CHBP and SP20, I bet all the bands signed on had to sign contracts saying that they won't play another Seattle show 30 to 45 days before or after the show.
I bet that once it gets closer, it won't be a secret, even if it isn't advertised.

It's Wolf Parade.
The Listening Party is touring with WP, according to their MySpace and has stops in Vancouver and PDX before and after the Seattle show and WP is playing SP20 on 7/13.

Your power is otherworldly, ChrisB. Use it only for good, or to get me dates.

That all just makes too much sense! My brain is going to explode. Thanks for the leg-work. Looks like I may have to miss my normal Monday night soccer game and take a trip to Zoomer Mountain.

Ha! You're hilarious Cory!
I was happy to do the leg-work and surprised that no one got to it before me (and that the answer was in the first place I looked). Last year there was a similar situation for a Monday night show at Neumo's with a secret headliner and I had a similar post, so I figured I'd try to return the favor.

Just announced...it most certainly is Wolf Parade but with Foals(!) in support as well as the Listening Party.
I'm so excited because the Foals show from last month was such a fustercluck. Hope those who aren't showed out from the weekend get to make it down!
