Radiohead: The Best Of

 The Best Of

Some might argue it's OK Computer. Others say it's The Bends. But now there's no need to fight which record is Radiohead's best, as the band is about to release an official Radiohead: The Best Of collection on June 3, on Capitol/EMI instead of by free download (we couldn't hope for that again, could we?)

Most exciting is that the collection will be available on CD, Limited Edition double-CD, quadruple vinyl (!!!), or by digital download.

Here are the details:

The band's first ever career retrospective, to be made available both physically and digitally, Radiohead: The Best Of brings together the singles, key album tracks and live favorites spanning the band's entire Parlophone Records and Capitol Records career.

Radiohead: The Best Of will be available in the following formats and configurations:
*1CD collection featuring 17 tracks
*Special Edition 2CD, adding 13 tracks
*4-piece vinyl set with 29 tracks
*17-track & 30-track digital downloads

At the risk of being a big downer, isn't this the Best Of collection that Radiohead doesn't sanction or support? The one their old label is throwing together as a cash-in on the band's new tour?

Why, yes. Yes it is. I think I'll gladly skip this one.

Cory, you beat me to the punch on this comment, but...

Yeah, the album's a total "Fuck you for dropping us, kicking the record industry in the balls, and selling your CDs online for free"

I won't be buying, or even downloading this one. I'll just use the shuffle mode on the Radiohead portion of my iTunes instead.

i'm a sucker, i admit it--
as homage to their excellent work putting out earlier discs by the band, i will bow before EMI and shell out the clams for the 4 LP set...

i mean if you REALLY wanna show someone you don't like them, like EMI, give them some American $$$'s! what could be meaner than that?

and, if radiohead wants to release a 4 LP set themselves, i'll gladly burn these ones and buy those when they come out.

the band still owns the publishing to the catalog, so when the set comes out and gets played all over the place on radio, they'll still hear jingle jingle in their piggy banks.

*tips his unpolitical cap*
and counts down the days to 4 LP best of radiohead set.

@4 & 5-- Thanks for explaining, I knew something was amiss here when I saw "Creep" amongst the track listing, a song Radiohead has openly said they don't enjoy.

I guess this is an okay overview for people who like the band, but don't love them. If you already own the albums, you already have all of the songs except for "Talk Show Host" which was on the Street Spirit single and the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. And no "Myxomatosis"? I'm skipping this one.
