Hello, Imaginary World.
I make a point out of living up Halloween each and every year. My annual tradition is to create a Halloween mix CD- not one of those clichè ones with "The Addams Family Theme" and "Monster Mash", but a really good, unique one.
My past lists include songs by
This year, however, I'm looking for a better mix, with as much Seattle Indie music as possible. And maybe less depressing Goth.
I'm going to start the mix with "Children of the Night" by Schoolyard Heroes, "Crimewave" by Crystal Castles, and "My Kind of People" by Man Plus. Maybe this will give you an idea of the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Remember, this is going to be played at a party! With costumes and caramel apples and cobwebs galore!
I want to hear your suggestions for more songs! Please, help me make the best Hallowindie Mix 2008?

Also, based on your list, you might like Universalia Jane's "Teetering Heights."

One time my mix CD group had Halloween music for a theme and to this day I regret not including "Serial Killers Know How to Party" by Schoolyard Heroes on my CD.

Just go to KEXP's streaming archive and listen to Greg Vandy's Halloween Roadhouse show from Wednesday.
Also, "My Vampires" by Conrad Ford.

"If You Take Away the Makeup, Then the Vampires They Will Die" by Tullycraft! Not dark or goth at all, but vampire themed and very fun!

Wow, thanks so much for the suggestions, everybody! This is shaping up to be awesome. I'll let you know tonight what the final tracklist is.
One more I decided for myself was "Bury Me" by the Halo Benders. I can't let a mix go by without a li'l bit of Doug Martsch. :)

I think a spookier Man Plus song would be Cyclopomania. It's got spidery keyboards and scratchy guitars that make you feel like you're being chased by a supernatural killer!

New Conor & Mystic Vally Band. "Breezy" [on the killer EP he sold at his sweet Showbox gig last Sunday] and "Gentleman's Pack" are great songs. not Halloween-ish, but still, in heavy rotation on my MP3 player. Speaking of Conor ... where's the TIG review of his show, including the amazing Jenny Lewis set???
The Black Angels are indie [not seattle though] and spooky and awesome.
Concrete Blond.
Tricky or Massive Attack.
Old-ish Modest Mouse.

Sure as hell, anything by Dead Science.
And how could you leave out The Epoxies' cover of "Clones"? (That one goes out to Billy Bullock-cum-Glen/Glenda, who knows I like Alice Cooper's original more, but 'tis the season ... in HELL!)
I love the video for "She's a Parasite" too ...
