Pull up your socks and get on your sneakers, we've got a big weekend ahead!
Today (Friday) we have KEXP taking over Capitol Hill. All day they'll be broadcasting live and hosting performances by Mates of State, Black Kids, The Moondoggies, and more. If you can step away from the Friday must-dos, you should stop by and say hi to the 'hood. There's even special discounts for KEXP members at Capitol Hill businesses (more info on the Hood to Hood KEXP page).
And if you want to join us at the EMP, the Pop Conference hits full steam today! I am personally excited for today's Pop Babylon talk and rubbing elbows with the literate elite.
Tomorrow we've got even more Pop Conference goodness AND it's Record Store Day! Grab your bus pass and your canvas bag and hit all indie record stores near and far (more info here) to take advantage of TONS of great deals, limited edition releases (my favorite kind).
Saturday night you can top things off with a stop by the Noise for the Needy Kickoff Party. The event is a fundraiser for the 2009 NftN event which will run June 10th-14th and raise funds for Transitional Resources, a licensed mental health center and residential program located in West Seattle, which offers a full spectrum of optimistic and respectful mental health services to adults with major mental illnesses.
Saturday night's NftN fundraiser is at Woodshed Studios and feature a packed line up:
6PM | FREE
Happy Hour
with DJ CHRISPO(Studio 66)9PM | $6
TRUCKASAURUS
ERIK BLOOD
EXOHXO (Speaker Speaker side project)
ORIGAMI GHOSTS
SOLOMON GEORGIO
Sunday is *more* Pop Conference sessions and is supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees or something.
I feel like it's my birthday or something! I couldn't be more over-giddy about the next 72 hours. Who's with me?
If you head out this weekend, post your weekend recaps add your photo to the Sparkly Indie Pop Flickr Photo Pool so we can keep up on all the indie-oholic festivities!

Hey, I went to the Pop Babylon talk! If I recall correctly, I came in late and sat on my computer taking notes the whole time. Great papers, Mike seemed a little unprepared but he's a brilliant man, clearly.
