Tonight in Seattle:

Monday morning check-in

the lonely forest @ the vera project 4.24.09

Wow there was a lot to choose from this weekend, including just hanging out in your friend's back yard pondering how to make it to all the shows happening this summer (yay warm weather tour season!).

By the looks of Amelia Gyde's photos from Friday's Lonely Forest / New Faces show at Vera... that *might* have been the place to be Friday night. It also sounds like Bloc Party was stellar on Saturday night and last night, Redwood Plan tore it up at the Crocodile with Ida Maria.

What did you see / do this weekend?

U.S.E. at Western...fun show, lots of new stuff from their upcoming 2nd album. A little high (no pun intended) on the hippie content, but you know...it's Western!

I'll confirm that Bloc Party tore it up on Saturday night! They started out with a lot of energy and as the night went on they seemed to get even more energetic and the crowd did as well. Kele was walking on the back bar wall of the Showbox during the encore, trying not to kick people's drinks over. Then he crowd surfed his way back to the stage right over me.
Menomena also did great. It seemed as though the majority of the audience was there for Bloc Party, but as a big Menomena fan I thought they did excellent. I'm pretty sure they even slipped a new song into the middle of their set.
Sounds like there were a lot of good shows this weekend.

I had the best weekend in recent memory. The Lonely Forest CD release show at The VERA Project on Friday was just incredible, and I was lucky enough to see The Redwood Plan twice - on Saturday at High Dive with Brent Amaker & the Rodeo and last night at The Crocodile with Ida Maria. The Croc was rockin' last night!

I don't know if the TIG crowd cares much about Richard Buckner but the 6pm show at the Tractor on Saturday was great. It was pretty full and a sit down show but unlike many a show at Tractor, people were quiet. Buckner basically folded one song into the other stopping just to switch guitars occasionally. One of the best shows of his I've seen and I'm into the double digits on that.
