Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

This Saturday night there's some amazing shows around town, including the KEXP Yule, the insane happenings at the Sunset (Black Daisy and Brent Amaker & the Rodeo!!), and other groups kicking ass all over town, but as usual there's some sweet stuff that isn't wholly about music either. And if I can nab a ride, the early thing I'm going to do is head down to Georgetown for Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery's Second Anniversary Blowout Gala, this Saturday, December 13, from 6:00 Pm to 9:00 PM.

This is the premier of the second book in the incredible, eye-dazzling, senses-torquing "Beasts!" book series, a colorful and terrifying and howling collection of graphic arts by a lot of your favorite illustrators and designers, such as Peter Bagge, Tony Millionaire, Jordan Crane, Jennifer Tong, Liz Hickey, Kaela Graham, Molly Colleen O'Connell and many others! It is THE creative madman or crazy artist gal's coffee table book for the holiday gift giving season, and tomorrow night we get to see a lot of the art close up, with the exhibition continuing through January 10, 2009.

The newly published paperback version of "Beasts!" will be at the Gala too, just in, so if you want to catch some food and drinks in Georgetown and shop at Georgetown Records too (which shares space with Fanta, right there where it's happening!) before heading back for the late night Seattle shenanigans on your favorite band lists, please feel free!
