Y'know, after I wrote that, I did a quick search for some of his other posts... and he already kinda answered my question when he was complaining about "all the stupid indie bands" at block party. Apparently, he doesn't like the indie "style" of music, and he cited some examples that made a little sense. I just have a problem with using indie as a genre.
It seems like he doesn't like bands with dudes who have acoustics, feelings and beards who sing in harmony. And I can understand how some folks call that whole movement "indie" music. It was huge in the 70's and now it's huge in Seattle, but I don't like calling it indie. Can't we call it something groovier? Like "Solid Gold" rock?
So... maybe the kid just needs to move outta Seattle? I dunno.
