Three Imaginary Girls

Thee Emergency came to rock Georgetown this weekend and they achieved this and more. Belting out their unique blues-rock, they gave the crowd so much energy that even the strings on the guitar couldn’t resist popping — twice! Within the first five songs Matt Smith went through two guitars and had to request a loaner from the Lashes, which thankfully held out for the duration of the show. As the sun went down Thee Emergency took it upon themselves to turn up the heat and created enough energy to operate all of the old factories that surround Georgetown.

Watching them perform is a treat as they offer so much and it was easy for the people in attendance to give back and continue to feed the cycle. “Hopped Up Fer the Git Down” started off their set and it was a perfect beginning, starting with a simple blues riff and crescendoing to a spectacular and hair-raising blow-out. “Heartbreaker” and “2069 SpaceTime” continuied the sonic assault. They didn't give anyone a moment to rest during their set, pumping out jam after jam.

Thee Emergency pulled from so many styles and put together an incredible spectacle, especially when Sonic Smith played guitar on his knees, leaning over the monitors and turning the axe around and tickling the strings with his choppers. Dita Vox made the boys (and girls) weak with her sensual voice and mischievous looks from the stage.

It’s hard to resist this band.
