Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Midheaven Album Cover

I’ve been a fan of my friend Leah Rosen’s music ever since I got my grubby little hands on a copy of her first demo. Many years and few name changes {lux, Jigsaw Puzzle Glue} later, I’m happy to introduce you to her latest project, Midheaven: new-wave-dream-pop goodness, aka, the way to Amie’s nostalgia-filled heart.

Midheaven’s new single, “3-2-1,” sounds like its the new cut from a mid-80s movie soundtrack. Every time I press play and those first notes, I picture an extended Sixteen Candles ending featuring Jake & Samantha holding each other close on the dance floor at prom, together. Forever. You might think I’m exaggerating, but this music is giving me hope for 2018 by sending me into the new year on a cloud of lovely optimism.

Check out the video below — it’s a gorgeous 1980s teen bike-riding dream washed in VHS tones, complete with tracking lines:

I’ve listened to this song approximately 1000 times since she released it, and I CANNOT WAIT until there is a whole album of music to fall into. Until then, you should grab the single + the other excellent tunes available on Midheaven’s bandcamp page — and keep your eyes on TIG for news of any more music, and (fingers crossed) upcoming shows.
