stefan... I like your style. I agree... Capitol Hill & its block party have sucked ass and been boring as hell for years now.

"it's not just for local Seattle bands anymore" - you say that like it's a good thing. Hmmm... instead of opening the block party to local bands from a wider variety of genres, they just went and found equally sucky bands from other parts of the country.
Seattle has enough boring ass indie rock bands. Do we really need to import more? No. The answer is no.

It was actually a statement sans judgment. Maybe it's because I grew up in Florida, but don't you guys remember those ads" "Orange juice... it's not just for breakfast anymore"? Anyone? Anyone?
Anyhow, I don't like orange juice after breakfast time, but I certainly like Viva Voce and Silversun Pickups and welcome them to town anytime they want to play.
And IndieSucks -- there are some loud bands on there for sures. The Whore Moans and The Intelligence not good enough for ya?
Or were you hoping for System of a Down?

You wanna know my real beef? My real problem with "indie" coming to denote a style rather than a status (of being unsigned) is that it is very difficult for me to name the best indie metal or indie hard rock or indie progressive rock bands out there. Basically, if an unsigned band is innovating in those genres, I will never hear about it. In order for a band to get press coverage, they either have to be a commercial major label band or they have to play "indie rock style" music (or hip hop), which I generally find boring and overdone. There's no in between! God, how I wish there were a resource for finding out about more local and national independent, progressive/heavy bands.

I completely agree that it must be difficult to find news about some of the sub-genres, particularly for those unsigned artists or those on smaller independent labels. You should start a site covering these groups and share the news with others. Go for it!

It could be worse. At least Central Services aren't playing.

The fact that you actually used the phase "indie progressive rock band" tells everyone that your a fucking spoon-fed idiot. I'm sure your record collection is embarrassing. Better hurry-up and buy those tickets for The Police concert at Key Arena. That sounds about your speed.
Imaginary-Monkey Paw said on April 19, 2007:
Is this a joke? Are you in Junior High?!!! These are the bands you listen to? This is as deep as you get?! This is fucking laughable. Please tell us that you at 14 years old.

Boy you kids and your "indie" arguments. Can we just put that aside and enjoy some music? And by "we" I'm talking about YOU, as I'm on the opposite coast where such festivals don't ever happen. Seriously. Never. So allow me to live vicariously through you, and if this is the sort of thing that makes you happy, then go and enjoy the shit out of it and appreciate such opportunities. If not, then don't go, and find some other awesome way to enjoy life that day.
Wouldn't it suck if every person in the world was exactly the same?

Are they handing out pillows at the gate? They should call this the Capitol Hill Snooze Fest!
