I'm so sad....

...that I was too sick to crawl out of my house to see the Long Winters play yesterday afternoon!!

Did anyone catch the show? How was it? Where inside Urban Outfitters did they set up a stage?

I'd love to hear details, or see photos. Please share!

Thanks, Kayla! I feel fine now (I think it was food poisoning? I blame the peanut sauce from our fridge). That was a not-so-fun 36 hours, and missing the Long Winters was one of the worst parts...

I didn't make it either! BUT, Laura and I ran into Nabil and John @ Metropolitan Market this morning and they said it was a great show.

There was a stage set up on the lower leval and turn out was great.

I think it's cool that Urban put these on and for such a good cause too!

it was a good time, there were a crew of thrashing young punks, i do mean thrashing and i do mean young, putting a lot of energy into the show, but mostly it was about 50 people pulled in off the streets showing mild interest. the police presence was interesting, at least 3 uniformed guards, as was the ridiculous yari(still no idea what this is) splattered car out front. the band was fun and inspired as usual, and played a 30ish minute set.

too bad i'm not a girl...

Where were they playing? By the sale stuff, or the cash register? I still can't picture where a live set could go down in that store.

on the right as you walk in the door, against the wall, so that you could stand on top of the downstairs register, and people were, and look at the wall facing qfc, and the band was playing on an ad hoc stage, actually some yari or whatever custom stage. it was a decent enough sized stage and was a good 10 feet in from the front window.

It was actually really fun. They played an all request set (though denied many pleas for "Nora", "Unsalted Butter", and "Scent of Lime" from the audience, but managed to play "Carparts" on my behalf). They played for probably about 40 minutes, and gave pretty much equal time to each record. I hadn't actually seen them play full band show for many years (due to their all ages show track record), and it definitely made me feel a little bit like I was 17 and seeing them play every few weeks. All in all, it was definitely worth a trip inside an Urban Outfitters.

It was my first Long Winters...show?...performance and it was great. Love them. LOVE. them. The Smoosh girls & friends were dancing up a frenzy in front, it was cute.
Yeah, a bunch of people were getting all smart-ass-y because it was a promotion for Urban Outfitters and Yaris, but it was a fundraiser for KEXP (which I qualify as a much more than worthy cause) which is fantastic. Actually, a business friend of my mom's put this whole nation-wide thing together, and the fact that they managed to get a great line up of bands and radio stations to support is really awesome. Yay for independent radio! Even at the sake for some product placement here and there.
Juuust cos you were wondering, they played on the north side of the building, the wall facing the QFC. Like...if you were facing them, the cash registers would be behind you...yeah!
