Local band Pris on CSI tonight!
Submitted by imaginary dana on October 10, 2007.I just got an email from Burke Thomas of longstanding Seattle band Pris, letting us know that an instrumental version of one of his, "The Assassin," will be featured on CSI:New York tonight!
He writes:
Pretty sweet to slide onto a show like this as an indie. It's an instrumental version of a new tune.
It's in some sort of Lab sequence... maybe halfway through the show.
The song isn't on Pris' latest release (on Japanese label Powerpop Academy), but Thomas says he might make it available as a bonus EP shortly, either on Powerpop Academy or his local label, Loveless.
Congrats, Pris!

There are companies who actively seek to place/license songs in spots like this. The Purrs just had a song placed in the new David Duchovny (sp?) show "Californication." Shake Some Action was placed in a Nike Women's online campaign over the summer.
It's quaint that such things used to be considered selling out. I remember people writing about Velocity Girl getting used in a volkwagen ad in the 1990s.
But, personally I think it's cool and it's an great placement for Pris/Burke. I'm looking forward to the new Pris record (shameless plug: Seattle Powerpop Blog is presenting Pris' album release at the Sunset on 10/27).

WOW. how does this stuff even happen? I thought only Alanis Morrissette and the Who got to have their songs on CSI?
