Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Stranger Genius Awards

You guys know about this Stranger Genius Awards thing, right? Not to be a smart-ass, but it’s pretty “genius”. *ahem* Anyway! Basically a panel of Stranger editors decides who’s worthy of a $5000 prize and more buzz than is humanly possible, and awards it (via cake) to one outstanding Seattle person (or persons) in the categories of Visual Art, Film, Music, Theater and Literature.

Then there’s a HUGE party to officiate the rewards, with booze and music and all kinds of other good stuff. This Friday, September 17th, you can take part of this rapturous ceremony for a mere $8 at The Moore Theater – which in my opinion, is a super-cheap deal for getting to groove to awesome tunes from Emerald City Soul Club AND see Shabazz Palaces hip-hop all over the stage live. I mean, seriously. Buy your tix now! Doors at 9pm/21+

This year’s Geniuses are:
Jim Woodring for Literature
Marya Sea Kaminksi for Theater
Charles Mudede and Robinson Devor for Film
Shabazz Palaces for Music
Susie Lee for Visual Art
