Of all the stacked daily lineups at this year’s Sasquatch, Monday is probably my favorite. Just looking at this schedule makes me exhausted! Aside from being maybe the best day for music of the whole weekend, it’s also the best day for hip-hop, jam packed with local acts and some of the best talent running right now.

On the Bigfoot stage at 1:20 are local hip-hop R&B duo Thee Satisfaction. This is not hip-hop for jumping up and yelling too, this is smooth hip-hop to groove and sway too.

At 2:00 on the Yeti stage is S, the project of Jenn Ghetto. As a founding member of the long defunct Carissa’s Weird, she’s been a staple in the Seattle music scene for a quite a while now, and she put out her 4th solo album, the fantastic and catchy Cool Choices.

On the Main stage at 3:10 is Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett. Barnett has a captivating way turning the banalities of suburban life into something altogether compelling.

Probably the act I’m most excited for this weekend is Tame Impala, playing the main stage at 7:15. The Australian psych rockers will release their third album later this summer, and they’ve been breaking out new songs at recent live shows. Their first two albums are stunners from start to finish, and new album Currents looks to be just as promising.

At 10:00 on the Bigfoot stage is Run The Jewels, the collaborative project of rapper Killer Mike and rapper/producer El-P. Run The Jewels are still taking their victory lap after releases their critically acclaimed sophomore release last fall, Run The Jewels II. It’s a dynamite punch to the face album that doesn’t let up very often. What started as a collaboration for Killer Mike’s 2012 solo album turned into a fast friendship, and the two have been almost inseparable ever since, release 2 Run the Jewels albums in 2 years, and already at work on a third.

Following Run the Jewels over on the Main stage at 11:00 is someone who many consider to be one of the best rappers alive right now, Kendrick Lamar. He’s fresh off the release of his jazz infused sophomore album To Pimp a Butterfly. With so many experimental elements on this new album, it will be interesting to see how the songs are pulled off in a live setting. Kendrick can flow with the best of them though, and his popularity has exploded in the past few years so this will no doubt be a high-energy affair, even at the end of a long 4 days.
