There's something to be said for pretty summer-day songs — dreamy and generally mid-tempo, conjuring images of sun-saturated days and radiant warmth. Songs like these are the Shore's specialty.
You've most likely heard their radio single "Waiting For The Sun," a confection of balmy guitar harmonies and subtle string sections that evokes inevitable comparisons to The Verve. But Ben Ashley's vocals are more Rufus Wainwright than Richard Ashcroft, lilting and soaring over the Shore's temperate melodies.
This self-titled debut is very much all of a piece — each track drifts agreeably into the next, creating a steady summer glow. If you're craving something on the gently sweet side, the Shore will surely satisfy.
