Harold! What a nice coincidence (and honor!)... because one of my favorite links to click on is your blog and drool over all your recent tilt-shift photography and new artwork.
Please please please let us know when your next Seattle show ...
The news just broke that the White Stripes are no longer. Even casual acquaintances of mine might assume I'm drowning in red and white tears over "the end" of one of my favorite groups. I am a little.
But actually I'm slightly relieved because nothing stings more than a beloved band going the way of just-too-much. I've loved watching the amazing White Stripes trajectory since I began my Jack White love affair {June 15, 2000 to be exact, when I saw them open for Aislers Set and Bratmobile at an afternoon show at the Sit & Spin}. I'm so happy for Jack & Meg and the masses that we've had over a decade of scarlet and ivory good times {and great limited edition stuffs}.
I can honestly say I've never been disappointed by a single White Stripes release or show or media interaction, so it makes sense that I'm likewise impressed with Jack's announcement of the break-up {as posted on Third Man Records.com}:

Forget press releases, music blogs, phone calls from my Mom: I find out most everything in life these days by Facebook status updates. Couples get engaged (or break-up), pals travel to exciting places, former high school classmates make more babies, and bands play rock shows... and call it quits. Guess which event this blog post is about...?
Sadly, I just received a Facebook invite of the band break-up variety: Seattle band H is for Hellgate just posted an event to their final show, and we're all invited. From the short-but-sweet invite:
"Jon is moving overseas, so Ben and I are putting down H Is for Hellgate. Please come and celebrate our final performance with us."
Sad, sad news. But should be a great show. It's at the Comet on Thursday, July 23, with support from Bone Cave Ballet, To the Waves, and Oregon Donor. Be there, and bring your hanky -- and some earplugs.

It's a sad sad day for Lucksmiths fans. My day started with an email from dapper Lucksmiths bassist Mark Monnone titled "Mega sad Lucksmiths group jam" in which he proceeded to break the news that the foursome have decided to call it quits.
They are going to do a handfull of shows around their native Australia in July and August, but then... it's... well... kaput.

Previously I've regretted breaking news here that I get via my Facebook friends' status updates but this was confirmed by the High Dive's website: Ms. Led, the first band I ever wrote about (back when I was a writer at ROCKRGRL magazine) and have been friendly with ever since, is playing their final show in January. January 23rd at the High Dive, to be exact.
I'm very saddened by this because Ms. Led was one of the very first bands to be nice to me when I started going to shows 6 years ago. They also kick ass. Unfortunately, my birthday is also that night, so I don't think I'll be able to make this show - which makes it suck times ten now.
I was also sick when The Young Sportsmen played their final show a few weeks ago and I loathe not being able to properly say goodbye to my favorite Northwest.
I'll post more details when I know them. In the meantime, here's the awesome video to the song "New Agenda".
Latest comment by: Lesli Wood: "Thank you for the sweet responses. I have loved being a part of Ms. Led and this will always be my favorite band. I do have a new project that will be debuting in March - a dancier band in the style of Le Tigre. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. For now, ...
I guess this is the karmic reward I get for posting about Pleasureboaters and The Trucks splitting up earlier in the week.
Latest comment by: imaginary dana: "I know, they are a consistently great live band, and have been so under-appreciated. This is sad news indeed!!"

It's always at least a little disappointing when bands breakup and in the past weeks two popular Northwest bands have decided to call it quits.
First, Bellingham's The Trucks are splitting. Sound Magazine got the scoop:
The Trucks have run out of gas. Seemingly out of nowhere, Bellingham’s trashed-out queens of glammy gender-tweaking dance pop have suddenly called it quits. The band, consisting of Kristin Allen-Zito, Marissa Moore, Faith Reichel and super badass drummer Lindy McIntyre, had recently been playing a number of higher-profile dates outside of Western Washington (including a six-date stint on the road with Brooklyn’s ladies of hip-hop, Northern State) where they were testing out new material that was reportedly being written for the follow-up to the band’s critically-enjoyed self-titled debut. It seems that those songs will, sadly, be placed in the dump … truck.
The Trucks have one more Seattle show, on October 11, playing A Gun That Shoots Knives' CD release.
Latest comment by: xina: "damn! that really sucks about the trucks. they were seriously awesome. i only got to see them a few times. i missed it when they opened for pretty girls make graves. their show at VERA was the last time i saw them. i am really bummed. but perhaps they'll all go on ...
I found out about this on Friday but didn't post anything on it until now just because I wanted to enjoy living in denial over the weekend.
Latest comment by: mc1229: "I believe I was living in denial when they actually were a band. Now all thats left is to destroy Does it offend you, yeah? anybody have any ideas?"
There has been no official announcement nor have the reasons been leaked as of yet. The birdie suspects that it might be because of a bad blood breakup between two of the three members.
Latest comment by: Imaginary Shrie: "Thanks for the suggestion Ben. This site is kind of a music news site, and when we hear news we report it. I mentioned in the post that they were "possibly breaking up". The tip I received was from a very reliable source... if they are in fact still together ...
