Only a few more hours and the weekend will officially be upon us (that is, unless you started it last night... is so, my hat is off to you!).

There are so many good shows to thrust us to and fro. Tonight, the Fruit Bats will be at the Vera Project with Sonny Smith and Tu Fawning while another TIG recommended show, Drew Grow and the Pasters Wives will be at the Comet. And then there's Steve Earle at the Moore (zow!). Here's the full list of tonight's choices:

Happy 9,000 Flickr Photos Day! Thanks to all the fab photographers around town, the Three Imaginary Girls Sparkly Indie-Pop Photo pool just surpassed the 9,000 mark! That's just as dreamy as the recent Hey Marseilles show at the Vera Project. Photo thanks to our Hot Avocados Photography friends.

Should we try to hit the 10,000 photo mark by the end of the year? Let's do it!

Flickr photo of the day: Mayor Nickels

When I saw the thumbnail of this photo of outgoing Mayor Greg Nickels in the TIG Flickr pool, I thought the mayor was holding a tambourine. No, he's presenting an award at the first Seattle City of Music Awards at the Showbox to Fleet Foxes.

I couldn't make it to the awards show on Wednesday night and with Nickels losing his bid for a third term in the primary last month, I wondered if the next mayor will be in the same place next year handing out a similar award to another band. Nickels had a complex relationship with music and nightlife and his legacy will likely be mixed, but overall, it was mostly positive. Under Nickels' watch the Vera Project found a permanent home at Seattle Center, the restrictive Teen Dance Ordinance was overturned (a campaign promise he kept) and the City of Music Initiative was launched. The petty campaign against the Blue Moon Tavern and the indefensible "Operation Sobering Thought" sting (a fortunate failure) both likely originated from puritanical city attorney Tom Carr's office (who is up for reelection this fall).

I spent most of my day yesterday (which was pretty good overall - even for a Monday) bemoaning how I wasn't going to see Ingrid Michaelson at Neumo's last night.

Seattle's Zera Marvel recently opened up for Tom Brosseau at the Tractor and I have to admit, if she wasn't so incredibly kind, I'd be quite jealous of her. Besides being quite stunning on stage, she belts out sultry sweetness taylored for sharing a stage with TomB.

Last Thursday, Head Like A Kite had an open house of sorts at London Bridge Studio and invited some friends and imaginaries to come be part of the recording process. Of course we couldn't resist the invite and Jeanine Anderson was on hand to take some shots of the fun.

It's kinda a tear jerker in light of the recent news that Harvey Danger is calling it quits. But, on the sweeter side of things, Sean celebrated is birthday just last Friday (happiest of b-days to you sir!).

WOW -- this weekend (which this time we'll say started on Thursday because Thursday was *so* packed with options) will probably be voted "most packed with possibilities ever!" in this summer's yearbook.

Did anyone do a Jens Lekman double shot -- attending both Thursday and Friday? Neko Case? Metric? Camera Obscura? Jason Lytle acoustic? That's just the tip of the weekend iceburg of possibilities!

The Redwood Plan's Lesli Wood is one of the coolest people in the universe - so it only makes sense that her new band (TRP) is cool as sh*t as well. Here's a photo from their recent Crocodile show - is she playing two instruments at once?

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to the Crocodile on Saturday night!

It was wonderful to have all of our favorite folks in one place at the same time. We hope that you had a tasty (and commemorative) Top Pot doughnut and a Vain updo? And most of all, we hope you had as much fun welcoming the Crocodile back as we did.

If you've got any pictures you want to share, add them to the Three Imaginary Girls Sparkly Indie-Pop Photo Pool group on Flickr. We'll be gathering all the photos in the coming days and putting together a photo album of the night on the site and we'd love to have your shots!

Also, tell us what you thought of the new place, the bands, the everything.

Was your beer really cold too?

As Steve Louie's photos of opening band iji (above) and BOAT (below) suggest, the bands really brought it. (BTW, nice Crocodile shirt D. Crane!)

I am not sure if it's the red pants or the bright USE sign on the back wall that make me see this as the money shot of the day... but Laura Musselman caught this photo of this weekend's U.S.E. show at the Crocodile that oozes so much goodtime sparkle that it actually makes me excited for Monday.
