They have an interesting sound that is sometimes atmospheric and psychedelic and recalls artists like Ladytron and Blonde Redhead.
Colonies is opening for Black Whales and Darker My Love at Neumo's on September 2nd. Sounds like a good chance to see a budding band before the early-riser eyes get droopy!
One of my favorite iPod obsessions has a brand new video out for her song "Breaking It Up" and it is both fantastic and below.
Last night's two Conor shows were great. We'll post a photo gallery recap in the next 24 hours with more photos to document the awesomeness.
But, for the time being, here's a photo that imaginary photographer Chona Kasinger took last night for us that you can find in the TIG Sparkly Indie-Pop Photos group.

It is not typically mentioned that Les Savy Fav has an aversion to being interviewed, which I foolishly did not think to question before heading into my own with them the last time they were in town at Neumo's way back in November.
Latest comment by: elle: "Mathra--as I said, "I was like a gold fish in the middle of a circle of cats." This isn't even half the video."
Seeing this photo from last week's No-fi Soul Rebellion show made me think: No-fi are like the anti-Florida. They are zany and weird and tattooed and loud and outlandish and all sorts of things that people in Florida are not.

Last night's *surprise* Wolf Parade / Foals show must have been a *surprise* hoot! Anyone feel like filling us in on the *surprise* fun?
Latest comment by: Von: "I watched most of the show from the balcony and it was great, I went down towards the from near the end of the show but didn't see any of the craziness that's been talked about. I did see the crowd surfer, that was just stupid!"
For a couple of weeks now, Neumo's said they were hosting a show with "Super Special Secret Guests" and the obvious speculation was that it was Wolf Parade. It was kind of a relief that I was both first and correct - mostly because it would have been a terrible thing to have been wrong about. Yes, it's true, Wolf Parade are playing at Neumo's tonight.
The big surprise, though, is that so are Foals.
Tickets, I hear, are going very fast and you can get them here for $17+ some fees. Doors are at 8, show at 9, 21+.
