Happy Monday morning! Let's kickstart this very real work week with an imaginary ticket giveaway.
Latest comment by: ig victoria: "laura, these photos are great (as usual) and I've got to take a second to thank you - I love being taken along on a slew of nights in posts like this, especially at a time like right now where there's a lot of focus on work and I can't get to a ton of shows. this ...
Latest comment by: imaginary liz: "At the last Thermals show I was unwittingly swept up into the 'front of the stage mosh pit' and, oddly, loved it! "
Oh how I love a rockstar in Vans (TM)!
Thanks to Dan Muller of Trickshot Photography for today's inspiring photo from the recent Black Mountain show at Neumo's.
I was thinking as I looked at the upcoming show calendar that a) boomer nostalgia could be recession proof and b) there is a shit-ton of Led Zeppelin cover bands coming through town this spring.
What I love most about Glasvegas is that folks either love or hate them (and some love to hate them). But the majority of folks that have heard them love the blokes... and what's not to love? The ooze with Scottish swager with an undertone of bookish meloncholy.
Three Imaginary Girls has a pair of tickets to giveaway to this Monday's (4/13) Glasvegas show at Neumo's!
To enter, email us at tig @ three imaginary girls.com with your name and the subject line "Glaswiskey" by Friday, April 10th at 9a PST.
Latest comment by: Ian: "I saw them at Chop Suey and am geeked to go again. Don't miss it. More fun than a British football match....almost."
Get on your dance-pants - the Junior Boys will be at Neumo's on Sunday, April 12th and we've got a pair of tickets to get you and a loved one in the door!
To enter, email us at tig @ three imaginary girls.com with your name and the subject line "JuniorBoysTicketToRide" by Friday, April 10th at 9a PST.
The city is alive with the glorious sound of the new Thermals album, Now We Can See. I'll join everyone else who wants to be the first to say that *this* is the album that will make them as big as they deserve to be. You know how the story goes, first you have lunch with Rachel Ray at SxSW, next thing you know you're headlining Madison Square Garden. I love every part of those Thermals and this album has rocked itself to the top of my best of list.
The Thermals are headlining Neumo's Saturday night and it is positively a must-see show. This, with the amazing Los Campesinos! show on Friday night make it imperative for everyone to get thee to the Pike Pine Corridor this weekend.
Three Imaginary Girls has a pair of tickets to give away to the Thermals show (this Saturday, 4/11 at Neumo's). To enter, email us at tig @ three imaginary girls.com with your name and the subject line "IHeartThermals" by Friday, April 10th at 9a PST.
Now let's behold the beauty of the album's title track. I can hardly stand the cute.
Friendly Fires are cleaning up in the New Order-y, bass-driven alt rock... and that's just what we need here in Seattle on this lovely Tuesday to kick our pants into Wednesday. Their song "On Board" has been Feist-ed by the Wii Fit commercial which is completely fair since folks love the Wii as much as they love yoga, lattes and pizza. We're only human after all.
And if you were looking for something else (the Headlights show at Nectar will be really good show as well)...check out one of these fine events as listed on TIG's show calendar.
It's been almost a year since the last time our beloved Los Campesinos! have been in Seattle. Since we last saw them, they've released one of my favorite albums of 2008 (for the second time - how many folks release two amazing albums in one year?), wow'd audiences all over the globe and rode around in amazing tour buses.
I am so excited to welcome them back to our fair city on Friday, April 10th at Neumo's and we have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky imaginary reader to join me up front. To enter, email us at tig @ three imaginary girls.com with your name and the subject line "LosCampsRULE" by Monday, April 6th at noon PST.
The moment I am most looking forward to? When they break out "Documented Minor Emotional Breakdown #1." And you?
