Sweet songs from some of our fave artists!
Latest comment by: Chris K: "I'm in a Starbucks now, and the "I'm on Fire" cover is positively awful. I don't know how you make that song syrupy, but they did it. "
Here, in tribute to the Seattle label's 20 years of not going out of business, are my favorite 20 releases from Sub Pop from the past two decades. I encourage you to check out their catalog and provide yours, too.

Walla!
The first track off Rogue Wave's forthcoming album is available to preview at Spin Mag's site.
Latest comment by: Toby Kahn: "Out of the Shadow totally blew my mind and this album just seems kind of boring so far, maybe age has made them less weird. But hopefully it will grow on me and I'll love it as much as anything they've done... "
Bay Area quartet Rogue Wave are set to release their next album, Asleep At Heaven’s Gate, on Sept 18. But they’ve left Sub Pop’s roster, instead releasing this third endeavor on Brushfire Records—which is owned by Jack Johnson, he of posi-vibe, frat-rock fame. I don’t flat-out hate Johnson’s music, but I am surprised at this direction from Zach Rogue and company. What might it mean for their sound?
(Hat tip to Ear Candy--I empathize with your dilemma!)
In other RW news, they’ve found a new bass player. Welcome Patrick Abernethy (formerly of Beulah) to the ranks!
Latest comment by: stella: "I hear you jdog - and i'm glad to see Rogue Wave garnering more attention. But it still makes me anxious. RW are so masterful at quirkiness, and I fear that won't translate to a larger audience and that they might get waterered down (no pun intended)."
