Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

It's another week and and another band we (I?) love is splitting up. This time it is The Long Blondes. The Quietus is reporting:

An announcement on The Long Blondes mySpace today by guitarist Dorian Cox said that "we have decided to call it today", adding that the reason was the stroke he suffered earlier this year.

"Unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again," the statement continues.

"On behalf of the band I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to one of our songs in a club. Thank you, if it wasn't for you the whole thing would have been pointless." He adds, "Finally on a personal note, thanks for all your well wishing messages."

Of course I'm quite saddened by this (but equally understanding). Best of luck to all involved and I hope Longest Blonde Kate Jackson finds a new project very soon.

Here's a clip of The Long Blondes playing my favorite song of theirs, "Lust in the Movies":
