Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Poster by Imaginary KikuI cannot be more excited for TIG's Inauguration Day party, which is coming up in just five more nights with Ed Wang, Benjamin Bear, H is for Hellgate and Friday Mile.

I'm going to write about one band each day until the big event (which I booked to coincide with my upcoming thirtieth birthday).

The first band is Friday Mile, who are one of the tightest pop rock bands in the Northwest. Singer Jace Krause has a soft voice that is Posie-esque and it works perfectly with the guitar and keyboard-based melodies as well as against singer Hannah Williams' harmonies.

They recently finished recording a new record that I cannot wait to hear and it should be out in 2009. If it comes anywhere near the brilliance of this song, "Distance=Danger", it will be a very strong contender for album of the year.

Friday Mile plays with H is for Hellgate, Benjamin Bear and Ed Wang at TIG's Inauguration Day Party on Tuesday, January 20 at Chop Suey. $7, 21+.
