Wow. I mean, really. Wow.

I'm not quite sure what to say about the show tonight at the Crocodile, or about how amazing this band is, besides You Need To Go and I Am Not Exaggerating. I caught Pearly Gate Music live on Audioasis two weeks ago down at KEXP, and these guys seriously knocked me right off my chair.

Pearly Gate Music, from what I can gather, is Zach Tillman on lead, two stellar musicians named Joe and Colin pulling off bass / guitar / backing vocals, and none other than Zach's brother Josh Tillman (and current Fleet Fox) rounding out more vocals as well as percussion. There's not much out there on these guys – a MySpace page is really all i could come up with as proof their existence, and there's no purchasable material as far as I can tell. But they're opening up for J. Tillman and his band tonight, and you need to come and get some wow on.

To get an idea of their sound, first think about some Fleet Fox multi-layered vocal awesomeness. Then, back out the campfire-y brand of Americana storytelling, and add in some heartstring-yanking lyrics (something about your hair, and my clumsy hands). Now, make it all pour out of these four ridiculously talented dudes on command, like someone is flipping on the flawless switch. That's about as close as I can get to describing what they do, and I don't even know if I'm doing them appropriate justice in my use of adjective.

But you don't have to take my word for it — you can come and find your own take on Pearly Gate Music at the Crocodile tonight, and while you're at it, stick around get blown out of the water when J. Tillman and his band follow up for the headlining spot. All this bang for ten bucks? Seriously!
