I’d like to make the world a holiday mixtape…

Remember when the “news” made claim that a Christmas song by the Shins had overtaken Mariah Carey’s holiday anthem as the “the most played holiday song?”

Although I love the Shins, their version of a Paul McCartney holiday song, and the idea of it being the #1 holiday song, I’ve always been a tad suspect.

If we are living in a world in which the Shins can have the #1 holiday song, then I’d like to make the world a holiday mixtape… with these amazing holiday songs (in no particular order) in hopes these will make the #1 list someday.

{Here’s our playlist of the songs available on youtube}

Do you have any we should add to this list?

A favorite – spot the John Roderick Santa!

SO CUTE!

I feel like he’s saying “Merry Christmas” right to me!

There should be some sort of trophy for “Best Christmas Song Dance Moves”

And in case you haven’t heard the Shin’s version of “Wonderful Christmastime” – enjoy!

Win a pair of tickets: Seattle’s Tribute to the Last Waltz (Saturday, 11/21)

After many months of preparation, we are mere days away from one of Seattle’s biggest annual show traditions: Seattle’s Tribute to the Last Waltz!

This Saturday, November 21st at the Neptune Theatre, join all your favorite luminaries to celebrate the Band’s legendary farewell concert, The Last Waltz.

The evening will feature a top-notch backing band of some of Seattle’s finest musicians and, throughout the night, a line-up of 30+ of notables will join them on the stage with their renditions to the Last Waltz’s set list. It’s hard to believe that one stage will contain all those brilliant musicians, including: Star Anna, Nouela Johnston and members of My Goodness, The Maldives, Exohxo, Smokey Brights, The Dusty 45s, Down North, Vendetta Red, and many more!

All proceeds from the amazing night of music go to Northwest Harvest – a nonprofit aimed at providing nutritious food to hungry people throughout Washington with a network of more than 370 food banks and meal programs. 1 in 5 kids in Washington struggles with hunger. This stat is beyond alarming – and this night aims to Northwest Harvest a substantial donation to help them in their efforts.

Win a pair of tickets!
We have a pair of tickets to giveaway to see the show. To enter, email us at tiglovesyou {at} gmail {dot} com with the subject line “Ready to Waltz” anytime between now and 3pm, Thursday (11/19). We will pick a winner and email them that evening.

If you don’t want to risk it, tickets are still available (as of this writing). As you know, the show supports a great cause, so it’s a win-win situation if you get yours now.
