Fans of garage rock, rejoice! A mere 3 hours away from here lie treasures untold for you who make the trek to Portland on October 17th for Scion’s Garage Fest 2009. The event is free, but it is highly recommended that one get tickets early from the website. There are multiple local vendors to choose from to arrange to pick up these tickets early, which means no will call line if you aren’t a procrastinator. Unfortunately, only one ticket is issued per person. The event will take place in four different venues, two of which, Someday Lounge and Dante’s are 21+.

The lineup is large and impressive, including Roky Erikson, The Deadly Snakes, The Black Lips, Jay Reatard, The Dutchess and the Duke, and, my personal favorite, Detroit’s own sons of the garage, The Dirtbombs!!! There are many many more acts, and this promises to be a high octane day of noisy, 2 minute songs about hot girls, fast cars, cold beers, and rock and roll. For the entire lineup, check out the Garage Fest website.

You can register for free for the festival at the website just mentioned through September 28, but we have a handful of wristbands to give out to readers. The advantage is that you’ll get the wristbands mailed to you and won’t have to wait in any lines to pick up your tickets. If you want to go, e-mail us at tig@threeimaginarygirls.com before 9am on Friday, September 25. Please include your mailing address in the body of the e-mail.

And, for a little tiny taste of what you’re strapping yourself in for, check out the Dirtbombs puttin the quiver in everyone’s liver. I loved INXS’ “Need You Tonight” as a young, dewy eyed girl, and I love it even more now.
