Ok, ok. Oh man! Minus the Bear — one of my favorites!
Ever since catching these guys earlier in the year at Sasquatch, I’ve been hooked. The crazy Knudson tapping solos, time changes, and romantic lyrics are almost too much for me to handle. They’re enough to satisfy every pound of music theory nerd in me, as I’m sure they are for everyone else.
I clicked away at this stage with my shutter finger still sore from tapping along on my fender to the Highly Refined Pirates album the night previous.
Though I was definitely disappointed to see such a short set, I definitely got my Minus the Bear fix taken care of.
With the local stage all done with, Against Me! took the What’s Next stage with their usual energy of newly escaped tigers from the Woodland Park Zoo. Fun fun fun!!
The long-awaited return of Canadian lads Hot Hot Heat was clear to be seen by all. The crazy haired Steve Bays bounced through the duration of the set with an intense energy — undoubtedly provided by the enthusiasm of the audience. After all, we Seattle folk are very giving!
The Bravery put on a charming, upbeat (with that always latent gloom slant) 40 minute set. Sam Endicott’s very appearance eked almost as hoots and hollers from the girls as a household of girls glued to High School Musical 2…or more specifically, Zac Effron. (Oh god.)
