Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

When I say the stars came out on day two of Emerald City Comicon I’m not talking about the kind in the sky. The mainstage was a thing to behold if you managed to make your way in, because nearly every session was filled to capacity. The big three were Chris Evans, the voice actors for Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the cast of Lord of the Rings. I was in awe all day long to see incredible entertainers we have known and love for so very long right in front of me and so excited to share with you my “front row seat” captures.

Chris Evans was ever his charming self, relatable and adorable. He spoke about life, work and what he wants to do into the future.

As a long-time fan of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender I can’t tell you what an amazing experience it was to be face-to-face with these folks. Not only are they talented voice actors but their faces should be familiar as well. Not that he should be hemmed into his role in Hook, but Dante Basco heard “Rufio!” more than once during this interview. Not to mention Mae Whitman has an IMDB list that stretches as far as the eye can see. They all genuinely loved each others’ company and eager to work together whenever there’s a chance.

I’ll be honest, I was too star-struck during this session to take many notes on the anecdotes and factoids. Unsurprisingly the most delightful member of the panel was John Rhys-Davies. The sweetest person you’ll ever meet and one of, if not the, most prolific actors on the stage that day (and that’s really saying something). He had very funny and sweet stories during filming. It was really fun to hear personal stories about what they’ve been up to and the kinds of relationships they have with each other during and after the series was over. These three men were a huge part of my childhood experience from Goonies and Indiana Jones to North and Sliders, I still can’t believe I had a chance to capture such a wonderful moment.
