Today, the AP is reporting on one of the more bizarre copyright cases in recent memory.

Here's the scoop (but it gets sort of confusing): a plumbing company in Rhode Island registered the number 867-5309 in its local area code. The company in Rhode Island just won an injunction against a company in Florida that has for its number (800)867-5309. This court ruling prevents the Florida company from using that number in New England. The company in Florida is, yes, another plumbing company.

Tommy Tutone told the Boston Globe that he was against either company using the number. Jenny, though, was unable to be reached for comment because her phone number now belongs to plumbers.
