Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Canadian indie-pop twins Tegan and Sara never fail to disappoint (in their albums or their live performances). I have seen them live at least six times and every time I see they're listed to come back, I get just as excited as I was the first time. And as "cute" as a girly Canadian twin sister duo sounds, they are anything but cute. Their whip smart on-stage banter keeps the crowd laughing and yearning for more. I can't believe they haven't released a live CD yet. It's that entertaining to hear their sassy bickering.

They’re touring for the rest of 2007 to promote their new album, The Con, which will be released July 24. While they normally live thousands of miles apart, Tegan and Sara made a temporary move to Portland in January to record The Con with Chris Walla in his studio. Also making musical appearances on this album are Jason McGerr (Death Cab for Cutie) and Matt Sharp (the Rentals).

I hope you loved them enough to get tickets right when they went on sale. If you procrastinated, I’m afraid you’re out of luck: the show tonight is sold out. But they are playing another show on Thursday night at the Triple Door (also sold out) and a FREE in-store at the Queen Anne Easy Street records at 4pm on Thursday. Get there early.
