Tony Wilson, co-founder of Factory Records and the man who signed Joy Division and the Happy Mondays died today. Many of you probably best remember his story from the excellent movie 24 Hour Party People, but his influence on British modern rock can't be understated. He was receiving treatment for cancer, but died of an unrelated heart attack – he was 57. NME has an obituary for the music legend here and the BBC has tributes here. I think I'll go pop on Unknown Pleasures now.
