New Radiohead album!

Radiohead will be releasing their new album in just 10 days. It's wonderful what a band can do when it realizes it's big enough to not need a record label :)

The box set (£40.00) will contain the album on cd & two 12" heavyweight vinyl records. The second enhanced cd has more songs, photos, and artwork. The one downside (besides our weak U.S. $ making this a very expensive purchase) is that the box set won't actually ship until December 3. A purchase of the box, though, entitles the purchaser to a digital download, as well.

The fun catch? If you just order the downloadable tracks, you get to set your own price. The band is willing to let you dictate how much their music is worth to you.

Cripes! I thought this was a hoax like countdown clock website, but, no, NME backs it up. I guess this is what happens when your recording contract ends and you think the industry sucks, eh? Go Radiohead!

Update: If it is a scam, I fell for it as I just ordered In Rainbows. We'll see what I get on 10/10.

I just ordered the discbox. Didn't even have to think about it.

I love that they're doing this...

According to a press release I just got from their publicist, the band is currently planning a traditional CD release for early 2008 as well.

FYI, everything I've read has stated though that if you choose to download the album digitally, you only have access to "disc 1", which is only 8 tracks. Purchasing the box set lets you hear the other 10 songs I guess...
