{the good} NEW RADIOHEAD!!! [insert infinite explanation points]

The new Radiohead came out today. if you pre-ordered the download or discbox from www.inrainbows.com or www.radiohead.com, then you should get an email with a link to download the zip file.

If you haven't, well, you can try to go to one of those sites (they've been frozen most of the morning from too much traffic) and "pay what you wish" for the download. Although I recommend pre-ordering the discbox, which will come to your home in December with the new record on CD and 12-inch vinyl, as well as eight more songs, also on CD and vinyl.

Supposedly a traditional CD release is coming along, but, well, just get it now.

Essentially what they've done is taken publicity out of it. Rather than send out reviewer copies and have it leak all over, they're controlling the leak, and asking for a donation to access it.

I'm on track 6 and my head's about to explode. It's their best record yet.

There is NOOOO way that this album is better than OK Computer.

Most ambitious? Yes
Most Emotional? Maybe

But I don't think it's the best.

Are you a fan of The Eraser?

I agree with Daniel, it's very much like Thom's solo work.

5.5 pounds well spent! The guitars have been corralled quite a bit, leaving a lot of room for electronic growling and, of course, Yorke's sensational voice. I'll be listening to it constantly, I'm sure. It isn't the explosive aggressiveness of The Bends, or the spooky vibe of Hail to the Thief, but it's a Radiohead I'll enjoy for a while.

Not a huge fan of the Eraser, no. Great record, but not something I listen to as much as, say, Hydrogen Jukebox.

I think speaking in superlative may be a result of excitement, and I'm not surprised you jumped all over that. It's the inherent nature of bloggers and blog readers to discredit new things in favor of championing the old. It seems as though by preferring the old, we add validity to our opinions, experience. Like people who complain at New Order concerts that they like Joy Division better, and they haven't done anything worth listening to since Low Life. I ask, then, what the hell are you doing at a New Order concert?

Can't we just enjoy the present for a day and worry about debating "this better than that" tomorrow? Masturbatorial discussion can wait.

Considering the rouge nation status of this Radiohead release, I'm going to try something new too. I'm trying to get a review up for In Rainbows (which I love so far) by tomorrow, so if any other TIGers has thoughts/comments/feelings about the new Radiohead album, email them to me! I'm going to try to fuse it all together considering no one really had advanced copies and we can all make up our minds on our own without those irritating critics biasing us (oh wait, um, er).

Anyway, those of you who have In Rainbows, send me any of your comments (erik at threeimaginarygirls.com) by 6PM Pacific and I can incorporate them.

PS: I'm looking at you Diana and Joseph the Finn.

the only thing i can say about it it yet is that it's amazing. wether it's better than other albums, i can't say. mostly i'm enjoying the 1,2,3 punch of "all i need," "faust arp" and "reckoner."

OK now who paid a fair price for it?
Just kidding.
I think it's amazing. Yeah - it's no OK Computer but this also the post OK Computer world and will there ever be another OK Computer?
This said - I do feel / hear more of a Thom Yorke but this is Radiohead. I have to give it another 20 listens for a more serious review.
Oh an I paid £ 6.48.

I applaude Radiohead for striking out on their own this time! Goodbye, big whig record execs! Goodbye to an overated and inflated record industry as we know it.

The record is fantastic as most of their albums are in my opinion. I noticed on the song "Nude" a part in the song resembling a jam recorded live in the Grant Gee Film "Meeting People is Easy" is featured.

I paid 7 Euros and is definitely worth the price of the album!

I've already let Santa Claus know that I want the DiscBox for the album for xmas.

Hopefully, Santa is internet saavy enough to come through in time to put it under my tree!

Best record of 2007 hands down. Nude is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. They are the best band of this generation and no one else is even close. You can't compare any of the records to one another (except for maybe Kid A and Amnesiac, same recording session and all), they all stand on their own and are all perfect in their own way. Absolutely amazing.

Get your Coachella hotel rooms now, they’ll be the headliner.

Hey bro I just googled for your name today after listening to this album hoping I could find you somewhere! I just downloaded this morning at work and I have to second your opinion. Faust Arp is by far my favorite track on this album so far. Radiohead is quite the difficult band to pin down album to album, but this is definitely another departure from the Kid A/Amnesiac experiment. I hear sounds that remind me of HTTT and most certainly guitar licks that hearken back to OK Computer. Without a doubt this album differentiates itself from others in some of the mellow string accents throughout and a generally more laid back sound that I can appreciate. I am always happy to see this band continue to innovate and release thought provoking material while others stagnate. Long live Radiohead.
