Chris Estey

Chris Estey is a Seattle-based journalist and publicist who has been writing for Three Imaginary Girls since 2006. He currently owns and operates Big Freak Media. He's worked in various positions at several successful independent record labels before and after joining TIG. He was the editor-in-chief of the critically acclaimed BANDOPPLER Magazine before becoming publicist for The Black AngelsThe Saturday Knights, and The Blakes at Light In The Attic Records, also handling their reissues for Betty Davis and Karen Dalton. He's conducted interviews, written columns and reviews for Seattle Magazine, City Arts Magazine, The Rocket, The Stranger, Sound Magazine, Paste, Seattle Weekly, and other publications. His long review for Phil Ochs Greatest Hits was reprinted in Da Capo's Best Music Writing 2010. Currently handling PR for Light In The Attic Records through Big Freak to help promote Listen, Whitey! and the upcoming Bobby Whitlock reissues. He also writes bios for and consults with bands, for example Seattle group Eighteen Individual Eyes. He is the main publicist for Flat Field Records, for Tomten, the SpokAnarchy DVD/CD and the reissue of the first Vampire Lezbos album. He's also done rock and roll comics with David Lasky (in two editions of the anthology Hotwire from Fantagraphics), and has also published over two dozen personal zines.
