The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest: I’m anxious to see the last installment in the Millennium trilogy, even though I hear it’s not as action-packed as the first two. This film has my favorite kick-ass chick trying to prove her (kind of) innocence while on trial for murder, with friend and sometimes lover Mikael Blomkvist helping out by uncovering a huge government conspiracy.

Nowhere Boy: This played at SIFF last year and I missed it! But it’s reportedly fantastic. Based on a biography by John Lennon’s half-sister, this film focuses on his adolescence—including his first band, his early friendship with Paul and George, and the struggles he had with his mom and aunt.

Dogtooth: Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, this Greek thriller is about parents who shelter their kids to the EXTREME. It looks creepy and unsettling, even if it is billed as a “satire”. There sure is a lot of screaming and chaos happening in the trailer…

Red: Helen Mirren with a machine gun. ‘Nuff said.
