Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

I just clicked through to read Pitchfork's review of the new six-CD Peel Sessions CD from igLiz favorite The Wedding Present, and already at the opening paragraph, I suspect she's going to have words with this one…

The idea of devoting a 6xCD radio-session box set to a band as unglamorous as the Wedding Present is mildly counterintuitive at first, a bit like keeping your everyday Bic pen in a fancy gold case. These Leeds guys were never really among the pathbreakers, innovators, or celebrated stars of British indie; they were the workhorse and the house band.

They gave the set a decent review (overall score 7.1), but igLiz, do those words sting for ya?
