Sub Pop Records is reportedly throwing some kind of party this weekend (or so I hear).
In the all the frenzy surrounding SP20, the actual history of the label and its 20 years of going out of business may get overshadowed. Fortunately, the Experience Music Project is doing exactly what a rock and roll museum should do: record the label's oral history on Thursday night. The details are:
On July 10, enjoy an evening with Sub Pop Records founders Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman as they celebrate 20 years of Sub Pop Records and talk about their remarkable experiences at the label. Jacob McMurray, senior curator at EMP|SFM, will conduct the interview.
Tickets are $5 to the general public (free for EMP/SFM members) and can be obtained by calling 206.770.2702 or 877.EMP.SFM1. I hear that tickets are almost gone so you will probably want to call right away.
