Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Away We Go: I tend to think Sam Mendes made this as an apology for the crushingly-depressing Revolutionary Road – but in any case, it completely and totally rocks. Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski play an unconventional couple determined to find the best place to put down roots and raise their family. While some of the comedy is a little over-the-top, it all works, and their relationship is sweet while never becoming too cloying. I highly recommend you check it out, and I’ll definitely be buying this for keeps.

The Brothers Bloom: I really want to see this because it has three of my favorite people in it: Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo star as brothers who are also con men, working to swindle mark Rachel Weisz out of her money…which of course fails when one of them falls in love with her. A quirkier Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? Maybe, but I hear good things about it.

The Guild, Seasons 1-2: Felcia Day fans already know everything about this geek-tastic web series, but for those who don’t, Ms. Day plays a woman whose obsession with online gaming causes serious disruptions in her “real” life – which just happens to corresponds with the guild members deciding to try forming relationships offline.
