As I'm writing this, I've literally spent the previous several hours thinking about Disney songs as I had just seen The Lion King at the Paramount. It was a pretty elaborate production that caused me to think a) there sure is a heavy reliance on fart jokes and (more importantly) b) there are a lot of great songs here and many Disney numbers are timeless.
To celebrate such timelessness, some of our favorite local bands are getting together to play some of their favorite songs from their favorite Disney films. One of which, I'm promised will come from the aforementioned The Lion King, amongst countless possiblities.
Some of the bands playing include Kane Hodder, Aqueduct, The Pale Pacific, Wild Orchid Children, People Eating People, …is Electric, and my friends The Catch (who will be playing with former rhythm section Jenny Jimenez and Alissa Newton for the first time in several years).
All this goes down (like a spoonful of sugar) tonight (Wednesday 3/11) at Chop Suey. Doors are at 8, with a $7 cover and, although we're all children at heart, still 21+.
Here's a taste of what you can expect. This is from the last Disney Cover Night (which I was at), from December of 2006 at the Crocodile. Kane Hodder is playing the "Darkwing Duck" theme.
