Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Seattle's very own Star Lake Drownings are set to release a new CD on April 11th, and I have just listened to a three song pre-release sampler. Here is a quick rundown of the tracks from their forthcoming album:

  1. The Line You Draw: A slow, shimmering dreampop song that could sounds somewhere in between Gala by Lush and Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. It is a combination of effects laden noise and delicate songwriting.
  2. Music Of Our Life: Much more radio friendly. This catchy little song conjures up The Breeders and Belly mixed with something more palatable. I can picture this song on MTV's 120 Minutes during the late 1990s.
  3. Blanket Castle: A more playful version of the Lush/My Bloody Valentine sound. Once again, those influences are there, but there is a pop approach to the basic song structure.

Additionally, they have a CD release show on April 11th at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard. I am certain that at least a handful of the Imaginary crowd will be there to keep you company.

Any other local cds you're looking forward to?
