Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Alright, I know that the loyal reading of TIG demand a certain level of quality. Many of you are thinking "Erik, where is that quality lately? You sound like you've hired a bunch of slack-jawed undergrads to write your column lately." Well, to that I say: "I wish!" It has been busy days here in Gonzalezland and the Roulette Wheel has suffered. I know what you really want, and that's action! Excitement! Adventure! And luckily, today, we got it, from a band that goes as far as to be so excited they couldn't wait to put the exclamation point at the end of their name, so they stuck it in the middle: the Go! Team. Honestly, sometimes they baffle me: are they slacker intellectual cheerleaders? Maybe some sort of subversion post-modern pep squad? Or maybe they just like to be excited, and who can blame them? There's lots to be excited about lately like velcro, flan in your refrigerator case and maybe those nice soft pillows on your bed. See? Enough with the blahs and the moaning and get all jumpy. Jumpy as in happy, not paranoid. Maybe being a paranoid cheerleader would be fun, but I imagine it would involve a lot of pom-pom inspections and fear of triangles. Anyway, my monkeys are tiring (they're cheaper than undergrads) so I'll end by saying that it's Friday so skip work and play football with stranger in the park. Now, doesn't that sound like fun? Ok, maybe not, but it's better than alphabetizing your pens.
