Toy Story 3: We pre-ordered this and got it yesterday, so we were able to gaze at the beauty of the Blu-Ray transfer last night. And omfg. Seriously, you guys. So, so, so, so, amazing. Even aside from the wonderfulness of the flawless animation, TS3 is the perfect third (and hopefully last) installment to this sweet animated series. With Andy going off to college, Woody, Buzz & company end up in the clutches of not-so-nice strawberry-scented Losto and get banged up by toddlers at Sunnyside Day Care. Stock up on tissue for this one, because you’re going to need it; there’s tons of nostalgia for care-free childhood days spent constructing fantastical worlds with your favorite toys.

Splice: Every time I recommend this film to someone, they say, “Really? But it looks SO cheesy!” and that’s when I assure them that yes, yes it is. This sci-fi tale IS super-cheesy, but that’s exactly what makes it so awesome. Sarah Polley (Elsa) and Adrien Brody (Clive) are perfect as hipster scientists who create a brand new being and have to hide it from the world. The creature is pretty breath taking, even if you find yourself questioning why Elsa and Clive make the. worst. decisions. ever.  Anyway, bottom line: I thought this film was a whole lot of fun, and I’m placing an order for it as soon as I’m done posting this.
