Remember that one time? You know. Before we knew about The Head and the Heart and all their full-frontal amazingness?
Right. Us neither.
If you’ve yet to experience the sorta-indie-roots-ish, not-quite-americana vibe that these kittens have been putting out all over the PNW recently, you’re in for a treat. You have not one, but two chances to get your swoon on with The Head and The Heart this weekend, and both times in the company of some stellar headliners.
When you get out of work on Friday, pocket that phone and get yourselves straight over to Seattle Center, where the beer and wine garden will be flowin’ at the strike of 5. Throw a few (responsibly-sized) drinks back and get ready, because The Head and the Heart will be sharing the stage with Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band and Yuni in Taxco starting around 6. It’s the last show in KEXP’s Concerts at the Mural series this summer, it’s free, it’s all ages (except for the garden, obvs) and it’s basically going to rule. Oh, and Hannah Levin is hosting. It doesn’t get much better than that.
For Saturday’s lineup, might we suggest you start off by tuning in to KEXP and listening to John Roderick on Audioasis — rumor has it he’ll be stopping by to play some records around 7pm. Then, S will be doing a live in-studio at 8. When those two beauties call it a wrap, get your fine bodies down to Ballard for the evening and park yourselves center-stage at the Tractor — that way, you’ll have a good spot for Grand Hallway’s headlining set and The Head and the Heart’s second-of-three spot just beforehand.
It’s going to be a weekend full of amazing music and good times. Get crazy like us and go to both shows! The Mural show is free and all ages, but The Tractor will want your ID and a cover — so get your tickets here before those lovely young women and men sell out the room. We’ll see you there!
