Being all pregnant as I am, there are many things I enjoy but most avoid (booze, sushi, brie, caffeine, excessive late nights out, waaaah! Now I'm getting depressed!). But one thing I can have in abundance is sweets. Which is good, as I have a huge sweet tooth.

Which got me thinking: Why aren't there more pop songs about snacks, or candy, or treats? I had a hard time generating a Top 10 Songs about Sweets list, but I've done my best and here they are!

As per always, please tell me your favorites! I'm sure I forgot tons.

1. "Candy Girl" by the Archies
   Someone please remind me of this song next time I'm starring all ambivalent at the karaoke book. I love this song and I always forget about it…

2. "Just Like Honey" by Jesus and Mary Chain
   Honey, nature's candy!

3. "Lips Like Sugar" by Echo and the Bunnymen
   Boy, Ian McCulloch was sure delicious back in the day!

4. "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow
   I don't remember this video being so corny… and her hairdo sure does seem tame these days. But I love that little guitar riff! And I like candy when it's wrapped in a sweater!

5. "Ice Cream Man" by Van Halen
   Sorry about the "Sex! Drugs! And ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!' cheesy Dave intro. C'mon, it was filmed live in '83… what'd you expect? And no, I don't like mine with pickles. But thanks for asking.

6. "Candy" by Iggy Pop
   I docked this song out of the top five because it's about a girl's name, and not the sweet. It's still a great jam.

7. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard
   As a wee one I believe I saw Def Leppard on this tour with a strange opening band that kinda scared and bored me… a band called Pixies! Could that possibly be a true story, or am I making that up?

8. "Cinnamon" by the Long Winters
   One of my favorite spices, and one of my favorite bands ever.

9. "Cherry Pie" by Warrant
   Do you think this is where the White Stripes drew their early red and white striped visual aesthetic inspiration?

10. "Candy Girl" by New Edition
    Starting and ending the list with "Candy Girl" seemed fitting!
